President John welcomed back Rotarians and guests (Hugh Wheeler Rotary Club of Bendigo). President elect Geoff Adcock chaired the meeting this evening.

Some communication has been received regarding the Haiti earthquakes. 700 shelter boxes have been distributed by Rotary International. Colin Muir has provided information regarding a water and sanitation project in the Philippines.
Bill Slee is unwell had a significant clot in his leg. He was being nursed at home after a short stay in hospital but has found himself back in Bendigo Base and unsure when he will be discharged.
Three ROSE students went to Bacchus Marsh on Sunday for a beach holiday.

Graeme Nelson in Rochester has been unwell. He has had two stents put in and heading back into hospital in February.
President John mentioned the Audi weekend important to know that Kerry Warner who is a member of Essendon North puts in a fantastic effort on our clubs behalf.
Paul Kirkpatrick emailed to advise a Camp Getaway working bee. January 30 from 8.30am start.

Reports for the Club Assembly:
Doug Poole: Club service director. During the past month there have been a number of enjoyable events held. Thanks to Lola and her band of helpers on the fellowship members. Thanks to John and Marj and Colin and Julie for use of their homes over the holiday meetings. Congratulations to Doug Harrison for the efforts in arranging the guest speakers.
Attendance has been quite good with average being 79.5%. December was 78%. Lets hope we can improve.
Thank you to Peter and Ern and Jack and those who assist with the cashiers job. Lastly thank you for those who assist with the sergeants and corporals roles.
Colin Anderson: Community Service. The Wes Vine hall has come to a bit of a hiatus. Australia Day is the next immediate project with the BBQ. Volunteers will be required. Colin has been attending the Australia Day meetings. We are required at about 9.30am. Some guidance required in terms of numbers that are catered for. Graeme Lock has volunteered to organize food and BBQ but further members are needed.
Howard Osborne: International. $8000+ raised on the Christmas Stocking. Thank you to all those who participated or donated. Doug stapled EVERY book so a very big thanks for his efforts. The old stocking has been resurrected and thank you to all those involved. Thank you letters have been distributed.
Howard attended Kangaroo Flat Rotary Club with ROSE participants - $500 cheque presented to the ROSE program.
Kids down in the Bacchus Marsh enjoying their time with the Ocean Grove Rotary Club.
Catholic Diocese has offered Mount Feathertop chalet. First weekend in February there will be approximately 32 people attending with those who have assisted with the ROSE students this year.
Gibb commences her 4 year scholarship at Girton. Ploy will also be completing her VCE at Girton. Great offering from Girton. Rotary Club of Eaglehawk are the guardians of both Ploy and Gibb and Leonie and Graeme Adamson will be the host family.
The Thai students will return on the 20th of February.
Thank you to the Reject Shop for donation of the Christmas stock to help raise money towards ROSE.
Leon Scott: East Timor report: There is a function Sunday on the Hill on February 14 at Big Hill winery. 4 to 7pm. Major fundraiser.
This year there have been 7 visitors to Timor from Eaglehawk Rotary. Process of organizing teams for this year. Cost between $1300 and $1500 total for fortnight. See Leon if you are interested. There is a ten page report if you would like to read it please see Rob.
Gordon McKern Foundation and Mechanics institute. Mechanics just before Christmas the storage shed was cleaned out two issues arose. There is junk outside of the shed which at the time no one had a trailer or means of removing this junk. Just to be taken to the tip. Inside the shed there is some shelving that needs to be installed but to do it will require someone with carpentry skills / welding skills. Outside there are some seats pew like seats which John Haugh has offered to restore and pop out the front. Someone with a ute or tray to assist taking the seats to Johns place. Please see John at your convenience if you are able to assist.
Holding competition at the skate park for skaters and BMX riders Rotary sponsored affair but run by young people. Our skate park is rated fourth best in Australia.
During August the Royal Society of Victoria are reenacting the Burke and Wills expedition. It came through just east of Bendigo. The function is being coordinated by Gordon so if you have any connections, relatives or information regarding this please let Gordon know.
Foundation: Whilst there is a foundation month of November. Its 12 months of the year operation. In view of the Haiti disaster Rotary foundation will be heavily involved in monetary assistance. Please assist in any way possible. Gordon will be preparing a paper to include in the bulletin so people know what best we can do to help the people of Haiti.
Lola Miller: Fellowship. 95 attended the Christmas night. A great time was had by all. Thank you to Trevor Lock in his work in getting the evaporative air cons and fans set up. Thanks to all and the fellowship committee for all those who pitched in. A great night was had at the Hutchiesons. Numbers were difficult to obtain over this time. Before heading off to the Christmas break this year numbers will be obtained to get a idea of whom will be able to attend. Thank you to all of those who did respond. Marj and Johns evening was a delightful garden setting. A beautiful meal was prepared and the tour of the garden was a highlight.
Alf Thorpe: Festival Idol. Press releases have gone out with article in the aper. Auditions are now open with the information distributed to schools singing teachers etc. Applications close on the 3rd of March with auditions held 6 March. Final is no Wednesday 24 March during Dahlia and Arts.
Treasurer Walter Lourie: the week after the board meeting of each month the print outs will be on the message board in the hall for those interested. Books are closed approx. one week before the board meeting. Walter ran through the accounts and their purpose.
